Rules of the Road USCG Question #416 (Set 7)

BOTH INTERNATIONAL & INLAND In a crossing situation, which vessel may sound the danger signal?

Official USCG Answer & Rule Citation

Correct Answer: Option A — Either vessel

Rule 34(d) does not restrict the danger signal to either the stand-on or give-way vessel. If either vessel in a crossing situation is in doubt that the other is taking sufficient action to avoid collision, that vessel is obligated to sound the five short and rapid blasts immediately.
