Meridian altitude calculation requires determining the zenith distance (90° - Ho) and applying the Sun's declination. On 1 July, declination is approximately 23°06.0'N. With Ho 42°55.0', the zenith distance is 47°05.0'N. Combining this with the declination for a Southern Hemisphere observer results in a latitude of 24°01.0'S.
