Polaris bears 000° True. A bearing of 359.8° pgc indicates a gyro error of 0.2° E. Applying this to the heading 224° pgc yields a True heading of 224.2°. Using the formula True = Compass + Variation + Deviation, 224.2° = 222.5° + 2° + Deviation, resulting in a deviation of 1.0° W.
